Why Short-Term Missions?

A short-term mission trip is more than a vacation. It is an opportunity to step outside our normal routine, meet people where they are, and demonstrate the love of Christ through practical service, prayer, encouragement, and relationships.

Why the Chicago Southland?

The Southland is home to diverse neighborhoods, churches, families, and local ministries with both tremendous strengths and real needs. Mission teams can serve close to home while experiencing meaningful cross-cultural ministry and building relationships that last beyond one week.

Why the SOHO Missions Hub?

Through the Missions Hub, Thorn Creek Church provides a home base for mission teams serving the Chicago Southland. Teams can stay together, worship together, prepare for service, and connect with trusted local ministries and community partners.

We help teams:

Prepare and train prior to the trip

Connect with meaningful service opportunities

Serve alongside local ministries

Build relationships with neighbors

Respond to community needs

Grow spiritually and take home what they learn in a changed life

In partnership with Praying Pelican Missions, SOHO helps churches turn a mission trip into Christ-centered connection and impact.

Stories of Impact

“Our experience with the SoHo Missions Hub at Thorn Creek made a deep impact on the lives of our team members—both students and adults. The ministry projects clearly had Kingdom impact, the staff were prepared and professional, and the facility provided the ideal home base for our team.”— 2025 Pastor/Team Leader

“I’ll never forget the things I experienced and learned on our mission trip. I feel closer to God, and I built relationships that I’ll treasure for life. Most importantly, I discovered that God can use me (and anyone else) to make a difference.”— 2026 Trip participant (16 years old)
